Buying A Flat Panel Swivel TV Mount

Wondering which TV mount is best?

Welcome to SwivelTVMounts.net, your resource for wall  mounts,  for your Plasma, LCD or any TV you own or are considering purchasing. TV watching and game playing are activities enjoyed by the whole family, so being able to swivel and tilt your TV can make a huge difference.

Even though flat panel TVs have come down in price they are still a major investment. You don’t want to jeopardize them by purchasing the wrong articulating television bracket.

A small room using a TV 30 inches or less can sometimes make do with a fixed wall mount, but being able to swivel and tilt the TV for viewing from a specific chair or playing video games is a definite plus. A flat screen wall mount should allow tilting in order for pesky things like glare from inside and outside sources.

Make sure the mount you select gives you enough room between the wall and TV for any connections needed. Take into consideration the ability to extend the mount forward and to the side will make hooking up and adding accessories an easy process.

Since security is a major concern, most TV mounts that attach directly into the wall studs or cinder block are preferred. Most walls are built with studs placed every 16 inches, therefore most mounts are easily installed. There are 24 inch stud placements in a few situations and if this is the case look for mounts that can be adjusted laterally to work properly. With the larger and heavier models a motorized mount could really help with making more minute adjustments.

There are also pole style mounts that you can slide the mount up and down after mounting the pole, but these are usually used in instances where the wall brackets are not appropriate.

You will usually find size and weight requirements listed with the manufacturers instructions and these should be sufficient for choosing a TV swivel mount that has the right specs. Many venders have customer reviews that can be helpful in making an informed choice, but as always results will vary.

Articulating TV mounts can be found for almost any TV. Most are rated for smaller LCD units up to 30 inches or Plasma TVs in 32 inches up to 55 to 60 inch models. Besides swiveling and tilting, keeping a space behind the TV for air to circulate should help you extend the life of your TV, especially if it is on most of the time.

I have recently researched a variety of brand names and was pleasantly surprised to see mostly satisfied customers, and when the product didn’t live up to their expectations, the companies had good refund and service policies when contacted.

There are many different options for positioning a television available from a number of companies. If you are interested in something more mobile, a swivel TV stand may suit your situation. Households with only one TV may find this works better than a permanent mount. Ceiling television mounts are another good choice if putting the television out of reach is desired, whether at home or at work. You might just wonder how you lived without an articulating TV mount before. As technology advances, I am sure we will be amazed at the quality of the electronics we take for granted in our everyday life. Companies like Panasonic, Sony, Peerless and others who make Plasma screens, home theater systems and mounting hardware, are giving us a chance to make our lives better.

  • Nice article. The mount is often overlooked. Having the TV professionally mounted can save you a lot of headaches when it comes to selecting the mount, but it will cost you more.

The article speaks very rightly about the Wall Mount especially about the fact that there should be enough space between TV and wall. The mount should be sturdy enough to save you from prolems later.

I really liked you pointing out that with the articulating mount as well as with the swivel and tilt. You will have air flow behind you TV. Which with any electronic device like you, I believe will help extend the life of your TV. Very informative. Thank you.

  • I think the wall mount is great. Especially the mounts that allow you to turn your TV one way or another. It makes it really convenient when you are entertaining guests.

  • tom from under counter tv:

Swivel tv mounts make life so much easier when you aren’t in a room where the tv can be viewed from one stationery position.

  • James from PC TV:

There is a definite advantage in having a swivel TV mount. we used to have a wooden entertainment center but it was difficult to move and we have to watch it from different angles . We went for swivel mount and now we can watch it from some weird corner of our house clearly.
